Overview
This Solitaire corresponds to the Klondike variant and is played with a deck of 52 cards (without jokers).
There are 3 game modes with different levels of difficulty: Standard, Vegas and Custom. The Standard and Vegas modes differ in the number of cards revealed and the way points are awarded. The Custom mode offers the possibility to change the rules according to your own wishes.
Setup and Goal of the Game
The game field consists of four bases in the upper left called foundations, a face-down drawing pile called stock as well as an open discard pile called waste in the upper right, and the Solitaire playing area called tableau.
Klondike Solitaire begins with laying the cards in the form of a harp. At first, the player tries to make moves with revealed cards from the tableau. The cards can be combined or, if possible, moved directly to the foundations. If no more moves are possible, cards from the stock can be turned over.
Cards must be combined alternately in black and red starting with a King and ending with an Ace. It does not matter if black is Clubs or Spades and red is Hearts or Diamonds. Cards of the same suit cannot be combined.
Example:
♠️ King - ♥️ Queen - ♣️ Jack - ♦️ 10 - ♣️ 9, etc.
♦️ 5 - ♣️ 4 - ♦️ 3 - ♠️ 2 - ♥️ Ace, etc.
A partially completed tableau pack can be moved to another tableau column to combine them with each other. Here, it still applies that when connecting the suits must be alternating and the values must be sorted in descending order. An empty laying space can be occupied by a King or a stack that starts with a King.
The four foundations at the top left are formed according to the individual suits (Diamonds, Hearts, Spades, Clubs). They start with an Ace, the lowest card in this game, and end with a King. Cards can be moved to the foundations from the tableau as well as the waste pile. Cards from the foundations may also be moved back to the tableau if they are needed for a sequence.
Example:
♦️ Ace – ♦️ 2 – ♦️ 3 – ♦️ 4 – ♦️ 5 – ♦️ 6 – usw.
♠️ Ace – ♠️ 2 – ♠️ 3 – ♠️ 4 – ♠️ 5 – ♠️ 6 – ♠️ 7 – ♠️ 8 – ♠️ 9 – ♠️ 10 – ♠️ B – ♠️ D – ♠️ K
The goal of the game is to transfer all the cards from the tableau and the stock/waste pile to the four foundations. Once all cards have been collected there and the suits are completed, the game is won.
Standard
In Standard mode, only one card is revealed when drawing from the face-down stock to the waste pile.
Vegas
In Vegas mode, three cards are revealed simultaneously on each draw from the stock. Of these, only the top card can be played immediately. After the top card has been used, the next card may be used, and so on. If no move is possible, the next three cards are drawn.
Exception: In the Easy difficulty level, only one card is drawn. The scoring remains the same according to the Vegas variant.
Custom
Various options can be set in the Custom mode. These include settings for scoring, the stock and waste pile, moves, and solvability.
Scoring
In the Statistics menu, the points, moves, playing time and solution rate of the last game and the highest score and average of all games are recorded. Depending on the mode, Standard or Vegas, the score is calculated differently. The Custom mode offers the possibility to choose one of the options.
