Gallery 1-1 and the first level of every other gallery is automatically playable and does not need to be unlocked.

If the levels of the first gallery are too easy for you and you would like a greater challenge, you can always open any gallery on any floor and play the first painting. If that suits you more, you can then unlock the rest of the gallery with coins.
