The aim of most games is to remove free sticks from the area of play one after the other. Free means that as it is being lifted out it will not touch any other sticks, meaning that the sticks on the top are the free ones.
Firstly, select the desired mode in the game mnu. Depending on which mode is selected, there are different rules and scoring systems. These are as follows:
Single
In the single game, you remove free sticks one by one and get the corresponding number of points. As soon as one board is cleared, you carry on with a new one.
The game ends when you remove a stick that is not free.
If you get a high enough score, you can enter yourself in the list of high scores.
Arcade
In the arcade game, there is a time limit. Every time you remove a free stick (apart from the first one), as well as scoring points you get an extra half a second of time added on. As soon as one board is cleared, you carry on with a new one.
The game ends when the time runs out or when you remove a stick that is not free.
Depending on the number of sticks, you start with 11, 21, 31 or 41 seconds. If you get a high enough score, you can enter yourself in the list of high scores.
Competition
The competition is the multi-player mode of Mikado, which is usually played over several rounds. In the settings menu, the number of rounds for this mode can be set, as well as an optional time limit and a time bonus. Here too, you carry on removing sticks until you make a mistake or run out of time. Then it’s the next player’s go. A round is over when every player has had one go. The game ends when the last round is over, and an analysis of the points collected takes place.
One loses
Actually a drinking game and great for playing with a group of friends or foes to draw lots for who loses. One after the other, each player may remove one stick it doesn t matter whether it’s a free stick or not. Whoever takes out the Mikado the special, one-off stick is the loser. If you re clever about it, you can swing the result in your favor.
It can be played with any number of people; after removing a stick simply pass the device to the next player.
Leaderboards
In both the playng modes Single and Arcade, the best results are displayed in the list of high scores, separated into 11-, 21-, 31-, and 41-stick games. In these playing modes, you can see the current high scores by tapping the list icon in the bottom left corner. The list icon itself changes during the course of the game to display the number of your current position in the list. The aim, of course, is to be number one!
